Soundsmith were approached to design and install an integrated AV system to complement the existing exhibition of Roman artefacts already in place at the museum. Initial contact came from Nick May of String Theory who is the artist commissioned by the museum to produce the content for the displays. Four individual displays were required to run simultaneously, one of which was a bespoke interactive piece- operated by the visitor using a touch-sensitive ‘kiosk’ screen. Another piece of video was required to play only when a visitor was standing directly in-front of the plasma screen – so Soundsmith used sophisticated proximity detection systems to trigger the video only when required. Soundsmith brought in joiners and other contractors to complete the construction side of the installation to our own specification. All of the control equipment was conveniently housed in a custom built walk-in enclosure, where it is safe and under controlled temperature/humidity conditions. The result is a truly integrated AV system which enhances the already fascinating exhibition. Soundsmith continue to work with the Senhouse museum with regular maintenance visits and updates to the content of the exhibition. |
