Putting cows in the moovies! Probably one of our most bizarre requests yet: a live Bovine Relay System! Our client operates an extremely successful farm shop/visitor centre, and one of the key attractions was to watch the cows being milked through a large window in the Tea Room. So when our client decided to expand capacity in the Tea Room (and subsequently reduce the visibility of the cows) Soundsmith were approached to design a system capable of showing the thirsty public what was going on just out of their sight. We consulted several of our suppliers and eventually settled on some very heavy duty, high resolution cameras to monitor the cows. The cameras had to be able to withstand a thorough hosing-down every day and to shrug off the odd splash of very fresh milk! The cameras were sensitively positioned in consultation with our clients, the images were fed through a programmed switcher and finally displayed on a Panasonic 42” plasma display. We had to ditch our normal footwear in favour of green wellies when installing this one!
