Helping school children listen and learn Soundsmith were called in to augment an existing PA system in the school’s main hall. There was a requirement for better speakers, new amplification and some digital system management. We specified Electrovoice speakers, QSC amplification and system management by DBX. The new equipment was housed in a rack enclosure to ensure its survival in what has to be one of the harshest environments known to any professional audio equipment, a school! The System Management was set-up to protect the speakers and amplification and also to provide complete control over the equalisation and limiting of the audio system. New provision was made for the connection of a laptop into the system and the existing data/video projector. Soundsmith completely re-wired the relevant parts of the old cabling infrastructure to ensure system reliability. A custom built retractable laptop shelf was provided along with new network connection points and a mains outlet.
